What does self-winding mechanical movement mean?
Automatic watches , often referred to as self-winding watches, are mechanical watches that harness the kinetic energy generated by the natural movements of the wrist. This allows the internal spring to wind itself, without the need for external intervention.
The power reserve typically varies between 36 and 80 hours. If the watch is not worn for a few days, it may stop working: simply put it back on your wrist and it will start working again after a few moments.
One of the main advantages of this technology is the absence of batteries, which are instead used in quartz movements. This makes the automatic watch a more eco-friendly choice and, with proper maintenance, capable of lasting for decades .
